When the Shit hits the Fan – a discussion

A discussion about freedom of speech and the role and responsibilities of independent film festivals.

What consequences do legal threats and actions against artist, filmmakers and festivals have on our democratic society?

Earlier this year the production company behind the Norwegian documentary ‘The Magnitsky Act – Behind the Scenes’ was sued. The film was withdrawn from the film festival in Grimstad, the organisers didn’t dare to show the film after a threat of legal action.

Some years ago we had a similar example when Dole Food sued the filmmakers of the documentary Bananas!*. How can we protect freedom of speech when the powerful attack?
