Doc Forward – Record Numbers

The deadline to apply for the 2025 edition of the Doc Forward talent workshop has just passed and we have received a record amount of 60 applications for this year’s workshop. It is inspiring to see how many new talented filmmakers from the Nordic countries are out there. Stay tuned for the announcement of the selection soon!

Charlotte Røhder Tvedt has been appointed as the new Film Consultant at the Norwegian Film Institute (NFI) for Documentaries. Charlotte Røhder Tvedt was with the company Medieoperatørene since 2004, where she was responsible for a number of documentaries both as director and producer. She comes to the NFI after she has been the head teacher for documentary directing at the Film School in Lillehammer.  (Photo: Åke R. Bølstad )
At the Danish Film Institute Eva Mulvad has been announced as the new Commissioner for documentaries. Eva Mulvad graduated from the Danish Film School’s documentary program in 2001 and has since made a long list of films and series. She brings a wide range of experience, both as a director of significant documentary works such as Enemies of Happiness and The Good Life, and as a consultant and executive producer on countless films. (Photo: Stine Heilmann)

Greenland launches Film Institute

In 2026 Greenland’s first film institute, Kalaallit Nunaanni Filminstitutti will be launched. That has been decided on November 20th by the Parliament of Greenland who has passed a new law for founding a film institute that will be in charge of funding, film promotion and the fresh 25% rebate scheme. We are excited to follow this development in the Greenlandic film industry.

In 2025 there will be a board and CEO appointed as well as a physical premise in Greenland established so that the activities are ready to operate from January 1, 2026.

Nordic Win at IDFA

No Other Land by Basel Adra, Hamdan Ballal, Yuval Abraham, Rachel Szor has won the IDFA NPO Doc Audience Award 2024. The Palestinian/Norwegian documentary was produced by Antipode Films, led by Fabien Greenberg and Bård Kjøge Rønning.
