Taliban Oil

Western leaders claim that we have been fighting al-Qaeda in Afghanistan so we won't have to fight them at home. A lesser-known, more cynical story is that the Taliban and US have secretly been negotiating over the rights to transport gas from Turkmenistan through Afghan territory and to exploit the vast oil resources in north Afghanistan.
