Baptism by Fire - The Steelworks That Vanished
Stålbadet
Just outside of the harbour town of Luleå in northern Sweden is what locals call "the Steel Riviera". It is a landfill, large enough to hold all the World Cup football games at once. The silt that was shipped here to rebuild the landscape could build a wall, three metres high and one meter thick, all the way around Sweden, or from Berlin to Beirut and back. This desolate area was to be the site of the immense Steelworks 80 project. The film is a trip through time and space with "Steel Gunnar", our guide through the nightmare.
