In 1945, peasants in southern Egypt found a jar containing ancient manuscripts. One of them was a previously unknown gospel with the sayings of Jesus, the Gospel of Thomas. A Danish professor, Søren Giversen, dedicated his life to solving the mystery of the gospel‚s origin. Was it a genuine gospel from the days of Jesus of Nazareth? Did Jesus really have unknown teachings? What would the church have been like today if the Gospel of Thomas had been available?
