Southern Comfort
Lykkefanten
With his harsh picture of 7-year-old Ida and her kid brother Skrubsak’s life with their alcoholic mother, Jesper W. Nielsen and Southern Comfort divided the critics into two camps. Some argued that this was no film for children, others felt it ought to be compulsory learning. It is a tough film, but Nielsen blends materialism and magic into a story that is as touching as it is harrowing.
