The experiences of two individuals in Stalin’s prison camps. Two stories of survival that pose fundamental questions about human existence. The film is based on the writings of Russian author Andrei Sinyavsky and on the diaries of an Indian woman, Amalia Susi. "Psychologically, camp life is like being on a long train journey. The course of time corresponds to a moving train and the mere movement creates an illusion that there is some sense to existing in nothingness."
