Leonid Shower
Leonidestorm
Meteor storms occur when the Earth collides with groups of particles and small rocks from space. Dust grains from the meteor swarm, called Leonides, burn up when they enter the Earth's atmosphere at 250,000 kilometres per hour. This causes the phenomenon known as shooting stars. Every 33 years there is a chance of a meteor swarm causing more than 1,000 shooting stars per hour.
