A young Swedish woman, active in an environmental organisation, visits India only to find herself in what remains of forests once decribed by Kipling - but today they are to be flooded by a World Bank Project to dam up the river Narmada. On her journey our visitor meets villagers who are struggling to stop the dam. Gradually, she sees parallells to what has happened and still is happening in her own Western home country. "In Lapland, in Nothern Sweden, we have an India too", said explorers from Stockholm in the 19th century. This story begins in India and returns to the West to confront our renewed responsibility for our enviroment.
