Nasseredin Shah and His 84 Wives
Nasseredin Shah and His 84 Wives
In 1842, the 11-year-old heir to the Persian throne, Nasseredin Mirza, was given a photo-camera by Queen Victoria of England. The boy fell in love with the magical contraption and in the decades that followed, documented his life, revealing to the public what the public eye was never supposed to see. The film is based on photos taken by Nasseredin Shah and his court, plus animated sequences. It deals with harem rivalry and intrigues, corruption, murder, the political power struggle, and Iran's troubled relationship with Europe.
