A year after the euphoria of Tahrir Square and Mubarak's fall, Egypt's revolution remained incomplete: many continued to suffer from state-inflicted cruelty. More than 12,000 protesters were arrested by the army and secret police, sentenced by summary military tribunals, and often tortured.
