Fear Fokol (Fear Fokol)

Directed by: Tuva Björk

There are over 550,000 active private security guards in South Africa, far more than the number of police and soldiers combined. The film takes a nightly ride into the fears and anxieties of the city’s prosperous inhabitants, following the work of the private security guards hired to protect them. The illusion of security slowly dissolves as we dig into a fragile climate of inequality, paranoia and masculinity in crisis.

I Felt I Had to Be Here (Jeg følte jeg måtte være her)

Directed by: Sara Selmer Moland

At the memorial ceremony for Vera we meet her parents, Vibeke and Geir, together with Edson, an artist and Vera’s recent closest friend – and her childhood best friend Selma. The ceremony comes to resemble a cultural festival, rather than a conciliatory gathering for people in grief.
