Descriptions of volunteer roles:
Cinema Host volunteer
Get the chance to work at two of Malmö’s cosiest cinemas: Panora and Spegeln! During your shift, you will assist our Venue Managers with checking tickets before each film screening at our cinemas, guiding our guests to the correct theatres and seatings, organising and re-organising the theatres before and between screenings, help out with our Audience Award and other cinema-related tasks.
Ticket Desk volunteer
Be the first person that our guests meet and remember with a smile. The Ticket Desk is the place to be if you’re a responsible and service-minded person who is comfortable with a computer. You will assist our Ticket Manager at Panora with ticket sales, giving information and answering questions regarding the festival and the programme, making sure our guests have everything for a fantastic festival experience. In this role fluency in Swedish is required.
Event Host/Rigger
A role full of exciting elements! The shifts include welcoming guests and checking guest lists and tickets. You will also assist our Event Coordinator with rigging, running errands, transporting and decorating the venues for events so they look great when the guests arrive. You are organised and communicative, very outgoing and someone who doesn’t mind a late night or two. This is a great role for someone with an interest in gaining some event production experience. No previous experience is required, just a good mood.
Guest Desk volunteer
Take care of all of our fantastic guests at our Guest Desk (at our Festival Hotel Scandic Hotel Triangeln) together with our Guest Manager. The Guest Desk is the first point of contact for delegates visiting our festival and it’s always buzzing with industry professionals. The role involves meeting and greeting people when they first arrive at the festival, registering them, and providing them with their accreditation badges and any additional information they may require.
A high level of English and communication skills in general are required for answering emails and phone calls and helping out where it’s needed. Also, some knowledge of Swedish is preferable but not a requirement. This is the perfect opportunity for anyone thinking of a career in event management or hospitality.
Market & Conference volunteer
There is a lot going on at Scandic Hotel Triangeln during the festival week, and you can be part of it! Assist the Market & Conference team during the different events with tasks such as checking accreditations, providing tech support, and assisting at pitches, meetings, and seminars. Also, help the guests at the market desk with questions during the day.
Forum volunteer
This is where ideas for films become reality during the festival days. Help the Forum Team with setting up the venue, checking badges, keeping the venue clean and organised, giving information to participants, setting up desks and computers, and preparing rooms for meetings between film professionals. Come and get a glimpse of some of the documentary projects that might actually become part of the festival programme in future years. For this position fluency in English is required.
Back-up volunteer
In case a volunteer calls in sick and won’t be able to attend their scheduled shift, the Volunteer Coordinator will call in a Backup volunteer to cover that shift. If you sign up to be a backup volunteer, you must be available and in the vicinity of the festival – at max. 30 minutes from the location. But if the schedule runs smoothly and as planned, the Backup volunteer will enjoy a day off.
Photographer
An exciting role for someone who has previous experience with photography. In this role, you will document events, screenings, installations and happenings for our website, social media (FB, IG, YT, TT) and internal use within Nordisk Panorama. Camera experience and your own professional equipment are essential. A fantastic opportunity to be creative and at the same time have access to all parts of the festival.
Communication
Spread the word about the festival and increase engagement among our audiences through Nordisk Panorama’s social media accounts (FB, IG, YT, TT). Through text, photos and moving images, you report from festival events and keep up the dialogue with our followers. For this role, experience with social media is required, and your smartphone is your most important tool.
Runner
In this team you will help the logistics coordinator transport and carry things around the city so that all festival venues get the right things at the right time in the right place. You need to be quick on your feet, be comfortable with heavy lifting and have a positive and friendly attitude. If you like to be where the action is, then this volunteer role is for you.
Pre-festival Prep & Promotion
Help us create the most awesome festival experience. During your shift, you will assist the office team with putting up posters and handing out flyers around Malmö, preparing tote bags, creating crafts for the festival and a lot more fun that brings joy to everyone’s experience. As the header suggests, this all happens before the festival actually starts – from the beginning of September.
