Meet the Juries of Nordisk Panorama Film Festival 2024

Meet the individuals tasked with the most difficult job of the festival – selecting the winning films in our competition categories.

Best Nordic Documentary Award

Jutta Krug – Commissioning editor WDR

Jutta Krug is working as a commissioning editor for WDR, one of the largest European public broadcasters based in Cologne. She is in charge of feature length documentaries within the cultural department – very often international co-productions for cinema and TV, broadcasted by ARTE or the first German channel ARD. Her projects are focusing on socio-political themes with strong storytelling.  Some examples are Expedition to the End of the World, The Cleaners, ABBA – Against All Odds, Eternal You and Seven Winters in Teheran.

Lea Glob – Film Director and Winner of the Best Nordic Documentary Award 2023

In 2011 Glob graduated from The National Film School of Denmark, with the short film Meeting My Father Kasper Tophat . In her films, you are often among resilient women questioning the ideals and conditions of their time. Motherhood, artistic expression, and social inequality are recurrent themes. In 2014 Glob co-directed Olmo and the Seagull (Locarno IFF) with director Petra Costa. In 2016 Glob and Mette Carla Albrechtsen co-directed Venus – Lets talk about sex. After giving birth to a child in 2017, Glob suffered from severe illness and spent years dealing with recovery, which has shaped her understanding of both motherhood, society, life, and film. Glob’s Apolonia, Apolonia won best film at IDFA 2022, and in 2023 Best Documentary at Nordisk Panorama. In 2024 Glob was awarded the Carl Th. Dreyer honorary Grant for outstanding artistic achievement in film.

Francesco Giai Via – Member of the Selection Committee, La Biennale di Venezia

Francesco Giai Via is an Italian film professional, programmer, and trainer. He is a member of the selection committee of the Venice Film Festival and a scout of the Venice Production Bridge.  Since 2015 he has been working with TorinoFilmLab, the renowned development and training institution, where he is a member of the pedagogical and selection team and head of TorinoFilmLab Italia. He directs the Carbonia Film Festival, a boutique event in the South of Sardinia. He’s the Industry Director at Bellaria Film Festival, a leading Italian event focused on independent cinema. He is also a member of the European Film Academy and the Italian Film Academy Premi David di Donatello.

Best Nordic Short Film Award

Aurélie Chesné – Programme Advisor, France Télévisions

Aurélie Chesné has been a program advisor at the short film department of France Télévisions since 2011. She programs the France 3 short film slot “Libre Court” broadcasted every Tuesday evening of the year around midnight. Short films at France Télévisions provide artistic and financial support for French films and films from around the world to give promising directors a chance.

Inga Diev – General Manager, Ouat Media

In her role as General Manager of Ouat Media, Inga Diev is responsible for the company’s business operations and oversees all the film sales and acquisitions. Based out of Toronto, Canada, Ouat Media specializes in distribution and worldwide sales of short films, with a particular focus on titles by industry’s rising stars premiering at the world’s leading film festivals.

Marlene Emilie Lyngstad – Film Director and Winner of the Best Nordic Short Film Award 2023

Marlene Emilie Lyngstad is a Norwegian director and scriptwriter living in Denmark. In her work she tries to evoke a conflicting mixture of empathy, disgust, humour and melancholy. She graduated from the National Film school of Denmark in 2023 with her graduation film Norwegian Offspring, which won La Cinef at Cannes Film festival and Best Nordic Short Film at Nordisk Panorama last year.


New Nordic Voice Award

Anita Svingen – Festival Director, The Norwegian Short Film Festival

Anita Svingen has been involved with the Norwegian Short Film Festival since 2006, and became the Festival Manager in 2012, and also Head of programme since 2015. She studied Film and Television at the University of Westminster in London and worked in Norwegian television production for over a decade, for companies such as Rubicon and Dinamo and as a producer and program manager at SBS Radio. Anita has been involved in several organisations and festivals, including Norwegian Festivals and Oslo/Fusion International Film Festival, where she is a member of the board.

Ann Lind Andersen – Film Critic, What2Watch

Ann Lind Andersen is one of Denmark’s most well-known film critics and has worked as such for thirty years. Among others for Berlingske and TV2. Today she has her own media outlet What2Watch that does video reviews of films and series, a TV-film program called “What2Watch: Backstage” and a podcast. She is a board member of Danish Film Critics where she is in charge of the Documentary Section, and has been in the FIPRESCI jury at festivals such as Cannes, Venice, Hong Kong, and Stockholm.

Arman Zafari – Film Director and Winner of the New Nordic Voice Award 2023

Arman Zafari is a film director originally from Afghanistan. He migrated to Finland in 2016 and started studying Film directing at Aalto University. His films focus on mixing social topics with the absurdity of human behaviour, which is influenced mostly by Iranian social realism. Arman has also been mentoring different filmmaking workshops at Refugee Film Festival, where young passionate filmmakers with migration backgrounds were able to create their first short films. His short film Prelude won the New Nordic Voice award at Nordisk Panorama 2023.

Markus Toivo – Film Director and Winner of the New Nordic Voice Award 2023

Markus Toivo is a Finnish director of fiction and documentaries. He graduated in 2022 from ECAM (Madrid, Spain) majoring in fiction film direction. His first feature length film Under Construction won the New Nordic Voice award at Nordisk Panorama 2023.
