26th Nordisk Panorama – Nordic Short & Doc Film Festival Grand Opening at Malmö Live

This year the festival opens Friday 18 September at the new landmark of Malmö, Malmö Live with the world premiere of the Swedish documentary Martha & Niki by Tora Mårtens. A film about the dancers Martha Nabwire and Niki Tsappos on their way to become the first female World Champions in Hip Hop. The director Tora Mårtens and the dancer Niki Tsappos will attend the screeening.

The opening party is not to be missed and will hardly be forgotten with the massive presence of Reykjavíkurdætur, 13 rappers from Iceland and Bow Down Dance Academy’s moves. Read more about the Grand Opening here and get your ticket here.

Masterclasses 2015: Tania Ruiz and Jóhann Jóhannsson

Elsewhere by Tania Ruiz is the largest video installation currently installed in a public space. In her walking masterclass Art versus Ads she invites us to discover the way in which she dealt with the spatial editing, the choices behind the 1500 sequences composing her work, the temporal aspects of the generative system controlling the installation and other unsuspected aspects of her work.

At award winning composer Jóhann Jóhannsson’s masterclass Crossing Borders Jóhann will share his experiences on his work as the composer of soundtracks for the documentaries such as Good Things Await and The Miners’ Hymns.

Peter Sunde and Oscar Raby are headlining Nordisk Panorama Transmedia Meet-up

Peter Sunde: We can change the future today, not then.
The talk focuses on the relationship between art, technology, politics and what it means for our future. Peter will give us a sneak peak into one of his new projects that aims to involve the whole world in discussions of moral and ethical issues, discussions that has been lost in the clicktivism-society.

Peter Sunde is a Berlin/Vaasa-based Scandinavian hacker/artist, best known for co-founding the controversial The Pirate Bay, a Swedish website that indexes BitTorrent files and bills itself as “The world’s most resilient bittorrent site”.

Oscar Raby: The burden of Realism in Virtual Reality.
“If painting changed dramatically over the 20th century, what shall we ask from Virtual Reality, the shiny new toy of the post-screen media?”

The multimedia artist Oscar Raby is also showcasing his Virtual Reality documentary Assent.

NP Transmedia Meet-up gives you the opportunity to discuss production across industry borders – and most importantly: A chance to share your own projects and best practices with your community.

Iceland in Focus

With Iceland in focus at this year’s Nordisk Panorama – Nordic Short and Doc Film Festival you will have the opportunity to meet an extraordinary array of creativity and talent, which erupts from this North Atlantic country of merely 300.000 inhabitants.

A great variety of Icelandic shorts and docs are represented in the Icelandic Retrospective and Ísold Uggadóttir is the inviting guest of My dinner with…  Icelandic Art Films will be screened at Malmö Konsthall and there will be workshops with the truly interactive musical learning concept of Biophilia.

Nordisk Panorama Outlook – Inspiring Industry Talks

Focusing on financing, distribution and sales, NP Outlook is aimed at filmmakers who want to keep in touch with the latest trends at the international market. Don’t miss this opportunity to get to know who is who, who does what and how to do it right yourself!

You might think that the digital opportunities in filmmaking have been explored and explained many times? Outlook Extended presents a talk with Jason Brush that will most likely make you think again. In his talk The New Interfaces of Filmmaking Brush will explore new aspects of how digital interfaces are influencing the way we capture, edit, screen and experience film.

Daring the Stir-up of Controversial Docs

During the festival the Swedish Film Institute in collaboration with Film i Skåne arrange the seminar: Daring the Stir-up of Controversial Docs to discuss how we can make sure that provocative, challenging and controversial subjects reach there audience, have an impact and inspire democratic dialouge.

NP Town Hall

The NP Town Hall tradition was brought to life at last year’s festival to be a platform, where the Nordic film community can discuss issues of importance for the future of filmmaking.

Virtual is the New Reality?

In collaboration with BoostHbg Nordisk Panorama present a series of Virtual Reality sessions at the festival.

BeAnotherLab‘s interactive The Body Swap Experiment gives you the oppotunity to be yourself in someone else’s body. Virtual Reality finally makes it possible to see the world through someone else’s eyes.

Two talks, Meet the Ceators Behind the Body Swap Experiment and Tantalizing Trends in Virtual Reality are open for festival participants who are curious and want to know more about the future of VR.

This year’s NP Hackathon taking place during Nordisk Panorama – Nordic Short & Doc Film Festival will focus on Virtual Reality experiences. After 48 intense hours the hackathon participants will be showcasing their prototypes on Monday 21 September. Read more and sign up for the presentations here.
