Town Hall: Where Is the Nordic Documentary Market Heading?

Sun 20 Sept, 18:00-19:30, Scandic Triangeln (3rd floor)

For decades, Nordic documentaries have relied on a combination of financing from broadcasters, film institutes and film funds. But as the funding and distribution landscape continues to change, bringing these different sources together is becoming increasingly difficult. What does this mean for the future of Nordic documentary filmmaking?

Is the market heading towards a divide between films made for the big screen and those made primarily for smaller screens? How will the digital shift and an increasingly competitive online market affect the diversity of stories being told – and the real lives we choose to portray? And what will it take to ensure that ambitious, distinctive and diverse documentaries can continue to find both funding and audiences?

Join us for a town hall discussion about the challenges facing the Nordic documentary ecosystem – and the choices we need to make about its future.
