Competition Films 2021

Nordisk Panorama Film Festival proudly presents this year’s competition programmes. Out of 497 submitted films, this year 62 have been selected to compete for the Nordisk Panorama Film Festival Awards in five competition categories. This year we welcome the audience back to the cinemas and we hope everyone will take the opportunity to discover the best of Nordic documentaries and short films, screening at local cinemas and across Malmö 16-21 Sept.

“After a year and a half of a global pandemic and all the ramifications that come with that, it would be natural to question whether this year’s Nordisk Panorama short film competition might not live up to the quality of previous years. Well, let us reassure you – this year’s selection is as brilliant as we’ve seen in years. Full to bursting with humorous, joyous, thought-provoking, and inventive filmmaking, it’s been an utter privilege to curate this year’s Nordisk Panorama short film competition programmes”, says Sam Groves and Lucile Bourliaud programmers for the short film programmes.

“It has truly been a labour of love to dive into documentary filmmaking in the Nordic region this year. It feels like people have found creative fuel in the chaos of the times. We hope you will be as amazed, touched, shocked and as amused by these films as we have been”, says Cecilia Lidin and Hawa Sanneh, documentary programmers for the festival.
