In 1923 a group of syndicalists from Rjukan travelled to Brazil to form an ideal society. These people challenged strong economic forces in the local industry in Rjukan, and this resistance was enough for the local authorities to gladly help the syndicalists emigrate. Oslo-based Argentinian director Mirko Stopar takes us along on his ambitious and insightful journey as a documentary filmmaker. Stopar’s perspective adds an additional layer as it reflects how migration has occurred across the ocean between Norway and Latin America in various periods.
