  • 15:00 Desert Island Films: Interview with Robert Goodman, our film moderator, and Taekyung Tanja Inwol Sørensen, director of Homesick.

About the director: Taekyung was born in 1982 and adopted to Denmark as a foundling at two months old by a couple in Varde: petrol station owner Hans Jørn and Karen Marie Sørensen. Hans Jørn and Karen Marie divorced in 1985, and Karen Marie and Taekyung moved to the Danish island Funen, where Karen Marie married farmer Martin Rose. Karen Marie died in 1988 from a connective tissue disease. Hans Jørn and Martin fought over custody of Taekyung, and Hans Jørn won. At the age of six, Taekyung moved back to Varde to live with Hans Jørn and his new wife Marianne, and four boys: Thue, Troels, Kim, and Jan. After several years of Hans Jørn’s alcoholism and violence, Marianne left him and took the other children with her. At the age of ten, Taekyung briefly lived alone with Hans Jørn, and after his failed suicide attempt, Marianne and the other children returned. Life and dysfunction continued in the family until Hans Jørn, at age 65, fell into a lake and died, and Marianne died of cancer a few years later. Ten years ago, Taekyung discovered that she was not a foundling, and that the Korean adoption agency had her mother’s information. A correspondence between Taekyung and her mother took place over several years, until her mother broke off contact out of fear. She is married and has two children, who do not know about Taekyung. In 2025, Taekyung’s adoption was recognized by South Korea’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission to have falsified documents and constituting a violation of human rights.

Synopsis: The film follows the director’s story as an adoptee. Set between Denmark’s windswept west coast and the mountains of South Korea, it traces the story of a Danish family hiding domestic violence behind its facade. It imagines the other lives that were erased or, could have been, in Korea. Through interviews, haunting landscapes and a reflective VO, Taekyung pieces together her perspective as the only adoptee in a Danish family – and of a life-long erasure from Korea.

About the director: Heidi Piiroinen is a Helsinki-based visual artist, photographer and director working across experimental moving image, photography and installation. With a background in documentary storytelling and photojournalism, her practice has shifted toward more intimate, process-based works that explore emotional memory, invisibility, and suppressed states of being. Her work has been supported by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike), the Kone Foundation, and the Alfred Kordelin Foundation, among others.

About Simon Eliasson: Simon runs Purple Dome, an experimental archive and publishing house in Malmö focused on subculture. With a long history in Malmö’s club scene and as a resident DJ at the local community radio station Retreat Radio, his “punk” approach to genres has been a guiding principle both in his work as a DJ and in his own music. Under the name MOISTURE, he has released two albums as well as several collaborations with Swedish-American poet Mai Ivfjäll. Check them out here.

Synopsis: I Am A River is inspired by Pablo Neruda’s Book of Questions – a collection of lyrical, unanswerable poems that playfully interrogate nature, life, and the cosmos – the film weaves poetic inquiry with visual abstraction through the rarely used mordançage technique. Its veil-like formations evoke the fluid, fragile, ever-changing essence of rivers, suggesting they are living entities, much like us.

About the director: Búi Dam is a director, actor, and musician who was born and grew up the Faroe Islands in a family of artists. Birita is his first feature film.

Synopsis: A family of theatre-makers attempts to stage a play, casting the mother – an actress living with severe Alzheimer’s – in the lead role.

About the director: Director Viktor Johansson, born in 1983, Linköping Sweden. Viktor previously made five feature films all of which take place in the borderland between documentary and fiction. Viktor started as an author and has published five novels.

Synopsis: With her bags packed and nerves on edge, Ellen knocks on the door of the beautiful old house. Opening it, Bengt is completely taken by surprise. It must be ten years since Ellen was last here. A lifetime ago.
