The Lord of the Manor and his Tenants
Greven och Frälsebönderna
The trustee of the entailed Trolle Ljungby estate, the Count, wants to make his farmlands efficient. His tenants complain of unduly sharp rent increases. For generations, Trolle Ljungby tenants have been petitioning for freehold and now they’re taking the Count to court. (Estates were entailed to keep large land holdings together and meant that you could not sell the land or divide the ownership. The son who inherits the aristocratic title gets the entire estate, the other siblings nothing.)
