Island of Hope

A coming-of-age documentary about twenty-four-year-old Nadja, a highly sensitive and hyperactive city dweller living to the techno beat of Helsinki’s party hub, Kallio. On the edge of social exclusion, she escapes to a remote island and the cabin of a mythical hermit, where she confronts her deepest fears and an enigmatic intergenerational burden. Experimenting with self-help practices, she searches for answers to life’s mysteries. Filmed over six years, the film offers a glimpse into the minds of today’s youth.
