Farewell Reception for Outgoing Director Katrine Kiilgaard

Our managing director Katrine Kiilgaard is stepping down as of 31 March and we invite friends and colleagues to come join us for a toast to say goodbye to Katrine on Friday 27 March 17-19:00 at the Nordisk Panorama office Vognmagergade 10, 1., 1120 København K, Denmark.

Associated with the organisation since 2000, Kiilgaard has been a key driver in its development over the years. She took the helm in 2011 when the organisation like many cultural organisations was faced with trying times. Kiilgaard worked with the board to come up with new models for Nordisk Panorama to ensure its future as the most important industry platform for the Nordic short and documentary film community.

During her term, Katrine Kiilgaard has restructured the organisation and it has found stability. The annual Nordisk Panorama event has settled in Malmö, Sweden, expanded with new market initiatives and seen an increase in both audience and industry attendance, securing the event continued support by the organisation’s main allies as well as from new partners.

Katrine Kiilgaard says: “We have reached our goal of giving Nordisk Panorama a new foundation and make it grow. I feel proud to leave a stronger and re-branded organisation behind me, and I am grateful for the incredibly dedicated team, who has worked hard with me reaching this goal. I will now be looking forward to seeking new challenges, as my term was coming to an end in early 2016, and this feels like the natural moment to pass the baton to a new director to conduct negotiations for the next period.”

We thank Katrine for her tireless work and wish her all the best with her future endeavors. Join us in making the day festive!

Successful Fifth Edition of Nordisk Panorama Town Hall

The fifth Finnish Nordisk Panorama Town Hall took place during Tampere Film Festival. The NP Town Hall gathers key industry stakeholders for a Nordic forum addressing current issues in the short and documentary film industry, kindly organised by our Finnish reference group.

The theme for discussion was “Crowdfunding in short & documentary films”. Approximately three dozen industry professionals attended the event, which was headlined by four extremely interesting case studies of Finnish crowdfunding projects.

Time ran short as questions flooded the room, and the discussion would have continued for hours. Fortunately it was possible to continue it in smaller groups at the very popular NP Nordic Vodka Hour after the event.

Punk Syndrome Band Competes at Eurovision Song Contest

The Finnish punk band Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät featured in the documentary The Punk Syndrome is representing Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna in May with the song “Always I Have to”.

The band consisting of four musicians with learning disabilities toured the world between 2012-2013 to support the world distribution of Jukka Kärkkäinen and J-P Passi’s award-winning documentary produced by Sami Jahnukainen for Mouka Filmi. “We are very excited about the band going to the Eurovision, and are working to get the film available for everyone who wants to learn the band’s story,” says Jahnukainen to nordiskfilmogtvfond.com.

Mouka Filmi is currently producing a follow up documentary pitched at Nordisk Panorama Forum last fall and which will also be pitched at Hot Docs late April. The Punk Syndrome was screened at Nordisk Panorama in 2012 and we wish the band the best of luck at the Eurovision.
