A documentary about breaking the cycle of transgenerational distress. The subject matter and starting point is the director’s correspondence with her 95-year-old Sicilian great-aunt and namesake, Sinna Perho, over the past fifteen years. The volcano Etna expands from a symbol of repressed grief and trauma to an active, functioning organism with its own agency.
